Subject Access Requests
A Subject Access Request (SAR) is when an individual makes a request to an organisation to see or be informed of any personal data that the organisation holds about them.
Individuals have a right of access to their personal data. This right of access is what allows them to submit a Subject Access Request.
When meeting a Subject Access Request it is essential that you provide the individual with their personal data, however it is equally essential that you do not provide them with anyone else’s personal data. Personal data is not just the obvious information such as names or dates of birth. It can include subtle ways in which others can be identified or have information about them revealed.
